There were times when The Great Dane was called as King of dogs. This is one of the most graceful and idiosyncratic breeds. This dog is big as well as royal and it is very large in size.  The main characteristic of this dog is that they are gutsy, strong-willed and gracious in nature. They are useful for family as well as tracking purpose because they are neither extra violent nor excessively shy.

The weight of The Great Dane is in between 100 to 120 lbs. The height is about 30 to 34 inches. Although the height is very large yet they are very gentle in nature. This is the main reason that it is termed as “the gentle giant”.  They have a coat of fur on their body which is thick and short.  They have generally a black decorated cover design on their face and they are of yellow-gold in color. The colors of their fur are steel blue, white or sleek black. They also have uneven scraps of black color on their body.

They have a large sized body however they are very susceptible. They need the kind treatment. They always like to be in contact with their owner.  However some percentage of Danes is of leading type but it is not an issue. This breed is more than 400 years old. It is truly heartrending that there existence period is not much. It is only up to 8 to 10 years. This breed requires an elongated walk on each day. You will not find any issue for brushing its hair. The reason is that they are very thick. This dog is more suitable for individual houses because of its size. Moreover they need extra space to walk. It would be correct to describe it as one of the best friend of human beings.
