Keeping your dog safe can sometimes seem like a daunting task. However, there are several simple things you can do to help ensure your dog’s safety.

Avoid Poisoning for Your Dog

One of the most common types of poisoning seen in dogs is with human prescription medications. Be sure to keep all of your family’s medications in an area where your dog cannot access them. Be careful when you or your family members are taking medications. A pill or pills dropped on the floor can quickly be snatched up by a curious dog.

Some medications are more dangerous than others. However, if your dog has ingested your medication by mistake, contact your veterinarian immediately. Be sure you have the telephone number for your veterinarian as well as the nearest emergency hospital easily available. You don’t want to be searching for telephone numbers in the middle of an emergency.

Another common type of poisoning is with toxic foods such as chocolate, grapes and raisins. Be careful what you feed your dog off of your table.

Always use both prescription and over-the-counter medications for dogs according to label directions. If the label is unclear, consult your veterinarian.

Plants are another common form of poisoning. Many common household and garden plants are toxic for dogs.

Keep Your Dog Safe in the Car

Riding in the car may be an enjoyable experience for your dog. You should always use a safety harness when your dog is riding in the car with you or place your dog in a carrier to keep him safe. Sudden unanticipated stops can send your dog flying and can cause injury.

Driving with car windows open can damage your dog’s sensitive eyes so caution is necessary when driving with your windows down or when driving a convertible. You can use Doggles® (googles made for dogs) to protect your dog’s eyes.

You may also want to consider using the automatic window locks on your car doors, if your car has them. These can prevent your dog from accidentally lowering a car window with a misplaced foot.

It is important never to leave your dog untended in your car. In warm weather, the temperature inside of a closed car can raise to dangerous levels within minutes, even with a window cracked.

Make Sure Your Dog is Easily Identified with a Collar and Tag

You will, of course, take every precaution to make sure your dog does not get lose and become lost. However, should the worst happen and your dog gets away accidentally, it is important that he can be easily identified. Your dog should be wearing a collar with an identification tag that includes your name, address and telephone so that you can be contacted easily if someone finds your dog.

Having a microchip implanted in your dog may be something to consider as well. Collars and tags can be removed or fall off. A microchip is permanent and will remain with your dog for his entire life. It will require a scanner to find and read the microchip but most shelters, pounds and rescues have scanners and use them regularly. Many veterinary hospitals also have scanners available.

If you do decide to microchip your dog, be certain to register the microchip so that your personal information is available and you can be contacted if your dog is located. Be sure to keep your information up to date as well in the event that you move to a new location or change your telephone number.

Rabbits & Small Children

I do not advise buying a rabbit for a child under the age of 10. Chances are you will end up being responsible for the animal and if you do not take care of the rabbit, he will suffer the consequences of neglect. There are always exceptions to the rule, but usually children and pets do not mix.

Another point I’d like to make is that if you do bring a rabbit into the household where there are small children, you might wish to consider a larger one instead of a dwarf or other small rabbit. Larger animals are better able to tolerate the sometimes rough handling small children can provide. From my experience, larger rabbits are usually friendlier than smaller ones as well.

Remember that if you purchase a bunny for your child, you also need to take the responsibility of teaching your child to care for the rabbit properly.

Bunnies are Cute

But this is a poor reason for buying one. In the case of purchasing a baby bunny, the cuteness eventually wears off when they get older and many ‘owners’ neglect or abandon them. In my opinion, they simply go from being cute to beautiful, and deserve the care and attention of any beloved pet.

Please do not buy a rabbit on impulse. Too many people have done so, having no idea how to care for one properly, and the bunny suffers for it. Just because you may know how to care for a dog or cat that you own, does not mean you know as much about rabbits. The unfortunate thing about this type of situation is that usually the dog or cat takes precedent over the rabbit. The rabbit loses again. All pets require proper treatment and care.

Fostering A Bunny

It is admirable if you choose to do so, but make certain that you know what you are getting into or you may unintentionally lose the rabbit to one of the many possible maladies or malnutrition. There is a big difference in caring for a bunny by putting him into a cage and feeding pellets from a pet store and taking the extra step to learn everything you can concerning bunny care and using it. The education is a lifetime process (for the rabbit at least), but well worth it.

What should I do before bringing a rabbit home as a new caretaker?

• Get to know your local veterinarian.
• Bunny proof your home.
• Consideration for current pets.

You will always feel better, if any new member comes to your house, and if that member is nothing but a small puppy, then you will be much happy and you must be very excited to start a new life with loyal friend and companion.

Puppies are just like new born babies, you have to take care of them a lot, and you also have to pay a lot of attention to them. This will create good things and bond between you and your puppy.

You will be having lot of work in the first week, after bringing your puppy home, but if you’ve done them carefully and on time, you will just go through it fine. Small puppies are very energetic and they like to play all the time. They also like lot of cuddling and they like to show their affection all the time. Just like little kids do, they will do lot of mischief and test your patients.

Puppy Proof your Home

Puppies chew everything which catches their attention, because they are very curious. So you should keep the harmful things away like chemicals, choking hazards and sharp objects. Give non toxic toys to your puppy and something big by which your puppy can swallow.

Proper Feeding and Grooming

Always feed your puppy with healthy puppy food, and give them clean drinking water regularly, make sure that your puppy drink hot water, if the puppy only drinks cold water, it will be become the habit, and the puppy will only drink cold water. Feed them right amount of dog food, and that also in enough quantity which fill their little stomachs.

Train Your Pup from the First Day

It is very important to train your puppy, and teach them obedience, rewarding is very effective in this matter. Give them good treat every time they do well.

Make your Pup Comfortable

Just like small Childs, puppies also need to take rest after they had a long day to play. Keep them well snuggled and comfortable on a small puppy bed, if you do this from the beginning, then he/she will not sleep on the floor or on your furniture.

Lights with timers are also available so when you are away, they will automatically put the light on and off and set the suitable temperature so that it can remain same for the weeks.

Fish makes a good pet for your children’s; they do not need any training. They don’t bite; they stay stable in their environment.  Children’s should only feed and observe them.

• Peacock- All knows that peacock is a beautiful bird with array of colors. This could be the display in your own home. Like other birds peacock also won’t fly from your house. And they will also walk a kind of funny. It will not be surprised if you could ride them.
• Ferret- too small to be a dog and too big to hamster. One can say that walking with a ferret will make you really cool.
• Monkeys- just like other pets, Monkeys can also be make pets, if you adjust with them. You could treat them like a dog. You can feed them twice a day, take them for a walk and let them do what they want. And when you become an expert monkey owner, you can also try to buy gorilla.
