This breed is known as one of the primordial type. Their origin is from Arctic region. It is very akin to Canadian Eskimo sled breed. It is to some extent tall in length however the weight is not much. The Greenland dog is a large sized dog with pierce ears. There are thick hairs in its body and the tail is rounded towards the back. This is of Spitz type and it is one of the earlier dogs that people are using for dragging the weights. The vigor level is very good. The owner of these dogs has used them for hunting purpose.

People say that first of all they emerged in the year 1750 however they got recognition in the year 1880. The first look of this dog is solid and proportionate. The body is commanding and head is of wedge-shaped. The eyes are normally dark-brown in color and in a roundabout way. They are courageous and remain attentive all the time.

If we talk about ears then they are of V-Shape. The jaws are of great strength and the neck is small in size nevertheless it is well-built. The legs are straight and the shoulders are powerful. They also have a thick inner coat in their body and they can easily live in a temperature of -75 degrees Fahrenheit. The pace and power of this dog makes them favorite at work. Although they need extra attention at the time of training yet they are good to handle. They do not like to stay within the house for a long time. We can say that this dog is an outside dog.

The height of this dog is in between 22 to 25 inches. The weight is in between 66-70 pounds. They are used for sledding as well as tracking purpose.
