The Stabyhoun Dog
This dog is originally from Netherlands. The journey of this breed started in the year 1800. However it got the official recognition in the year 1942. This dog is very well-liked in Netherlands however many indigenous countries also know the qualities of this dog. The name of this dog has been taken from Dutch language which means “stand by me”. It is also popular with the name of stabij and stabijhoun. The female categories Stabyhoun are in between 18 to 19 inches. There height is just lesser than males. The normal weight is near about 33 to 44 pounds in case of males. The females are little lighter than males.
The hairs of Stabyhoun are elongated and shiny. The length of this coat decreases near to head section. The tail of this breed is shaggy and heavy. The hair colors of this breed are either black or blue or orange. The head is not that much large. The eyes are of brown in color. The tail of this breed is straight.
It is not difficult to handle this breed. It just requires regular brushing. The coat of this breed demands it. It does not require much bathing because it can affect the coat of this dog. The energy level is good. It needs proper training for a good social behavior because if it is not done then they will spend their energy by indulging themselves in terrible activities.
This dog is also famous for its sporting activities. They are also good for families and friends. The owner of this dog will like it for its friendly nature. It is not tough to give them the required training. It has the cool character that is the reason that it is also excellent with children. It is also famous for its brainpower.
Various Types of Mastiffs
Neapolitan Mastiff: - This breed of dog is one of the oldest dogs in the world. Generally this breed did not get popularity because of other available breeds and it is an underrated breed. The origin of this dog is from Italy. The body of this dog is very large and the males are of up to 200 pounds. In the ancient times, they have worked as cart-pullers and they were also used in wars. It is a well known fact about Alexander the great that how much he liked to keep a dog. It is this breed which he liked the most. They have distinctive wrinkles in their body. The physical structure of this breed is very akin to Chinese Shar-Pei.
American Mastiff: – American mastiff is moderately a new breed in the world. This breed is just 30 years old. They are big and muscular. The head size is medium and the tail is long. If we look on to the body then it is very thick. They are generally 3 feet tall and the weight is in between 140 to 200 pounds. The patience is the main character of this dog and they become very aggressive when they see any threat to their masters.
Spanish Mastiff: – The characteristics of Spanish Mastiff are very similar to other mastiff breeds. If we compare the body of this breed with Neapolitan mastiff then it is short. The head is broad and the coat colors comprise wolf gray, white etc. Every coat shade will include either black or fawn or gray markings. The average weight of this dog is in between 110 to 135 pounds and the height up to shoulder can be 26 to 28 inches. A veteran dog instructor is required to give a firm training to this breed.
